A Route Through Menorca’s Best Coves and Sunsets

Sunsets in Menorca

If there is one plan that never disappoints in Menorca, it is ending the day by chasing the sunset. My recommendation is simple: instead of watching the same sunset every evening, explore the island and discover a different cove each day.

You can begin

in Na Macaret, enjoying dinner by the sea at Vell Marí while taking in the Mediterranean breeze. Its relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere, together with its excellent culinary offering, makes it the perfect spot.

Nature at Its Purest

The following day, continue towards Pregonda, where the landscape of reddish sand and turquoise waters offers one of the island’s most spectacular sunsets. Nearby, Binimel·là and Cala Pilar are two essential stops for anyone seeking unspoilt nature and secluded, wild surroundings.

As the Sun Goes Down

Continuing along the route, Binigaus is well worth a stop. Es Bruc is the perfect place to enjoy a drink as the sun goes down. Alternatively, head to Cala Tirant, where Casa Tirant provides an idyllic setting in which to end the day.

The South Coast of the Island

Along the south coast, the route continues through Macarella, Es Canutells, Binidalí and Binibeca Vell. These four charming coves are perfect for combining an evening swim with a drink or dinner by the sea at Cafetería Susi, Mar de Teranga, Som Sis or Sa Musclera.

Mediterranean Essence

Binibeca Vell is a picturesque collection of whitewashed houses that captivates visitors with its charm and unmistakable Mediterranean character. Inspired by an old fishing village, it recreates traditional Menorcan architecture through narrow streets, small passageways and welcoming squares. Its beautifully preserved surroundings and peaceful atmosphere invite you to wander at your own pace and discover every hidden corner.

Unique Natural Settings

Macarella, Es Canutells and Binidalí stand out for their crystal-clear turquoise waters, fine white sand and unique natural surroundings, inviting you to rest and completely disconnect. Surrounded by beautiful Mediterranean scenery, these coves offer a peaceful, idyllic atmosphere—perfect for enjoying the sea, snorkelling or simply relaxing in the heart of nature.

Peaceful Corners

Es Caló Blanc, Cala Rafalet, Cala Sant Esteve or Son Parc are perfect places to say goodbye to the day in silence, with nothing but the sound of the sea.

To complete the route

do not miss Alcaufar, with privileged views from Xuroy, as well as Cala Blanca and Paralia, where you can enjoy an excellent culinary experience by the sea.

For Lovers of the Sky

On 12 August 2026, Menorca will be one of the best places in Spain from which to witness the total solar eclipse. If you are planning to be on the island, find an open space with clear views of the horizon and minimal light pollution. Coves such as Pregonda, Cala Pilar and Binimel·là, or the cliffs of Punta Nati, promise to become unforgettable settings in which to experience this extraordinary moment.

Because no two sunsets in Menorca are ever the same… and next summer, there will be no other eclipse quite like this one.
