This project is born from a story. The story of Cristine. Cristine is the youngest and only daughter of Pablo Bedfor, Spain’s ambassador to the country of Clementine, and his English wife, Victoria Misseden.
Clementine is a floating island, formed by the movement of the Gibraltar tectonic plates. Like a ship with a precise itinerary, it drifts each year with the currents between the African coast and the Strait of Gibraltar, passing through Sotogrande and Torremolinos until it finally stops near Málaga. From January to March, it is closest to Africa, and in April, it begins its journey toward the Spanish coast.
The story you are about to read takes place before September 8th, 1974. It recounts the celebrations and events at the Spanish embassy and key moments in the life of the ambassador and his family. But why were they so important? Because Cristine, just seven and three-quarters years old, experienced a series of encounters that shaped her childhood. Some were joyful, others mysterious, and some profoundly sad. Each left its mark on her path toward self-expression, shaping the person she would become.
This is Cristine’s story. The story of a building that opens its doors and invites us to dream.

This building captures the memories of a seven-and-three-quarter-year-old Cristine in Clementine, the island where she lived, and of the characters she met there. The design reflects elements from both the geographical surroundings and the building where the story unfolds. The intention to preserve its essence, both in shapes and materials, blends with a décor that introduces elements of Cristine’s English heritage.
The design seeks subtlety and balance through several resources consistently applied throughout the project. This cohesive approach allows the project to be perceived as a whole, one that, as the visitor explores, makes them part of the story that brought it to life.
