The hospital founded in 1711 under English rule came to definitively belong to the Spanish Crown, which kept using it as a hospital.

Since 2004, the Amics de L’Illa de l’Hospital Association, which has given rise to the Fundación Hospital de la Isla del Rey, has been safeguarding the island and its content.

Cristine Bedfor supports this wonderful initiative and will take charge of one of its medicinal gardens through a donation. Every Sunday, the volunteers keep it going with great care by adding new plants.
