THE STORY OF CRISTINE BEDFOR
HER CHILDHOOD IN CLEMENTINE

Cristine Bedfor was born in London into a singular family. Her father, Pablo Bedfor, worked at the Spanish consulate, and her mother, Victoria Misselton, half English and half free spirit, had spent her youth between the Cotswolds, a traditional boarding school, and the cloisters of Oxford. It was in London, already immersed in working life, that she met Pablo Bedfor.

Victoria, passionate about Arabic languages, a philosopher by training and an archaeologist by vocation, didn’t hesitate when Pablo was offered a new diplomaticpost: the island of Clementine. Thrilled, she dreamed of traveling the Mediterranean, stopping in Menorca to marvel at the talayots, anchoring off the coast of Sanlúcar, sailing up the river to Seville, ah, Seville! and finally anchoring the island in Málaga. Because there are destinations one simply cannot refuse.

The Bedfor family’s arrival in Clementine was met with unexpected warmth. Cristine grew up surrounded by friends of all ages and cultures, sharing the curiosities, passions, and peculiarities of the island’s inhabitants. From the beginning, her parents encouraged an open-minded education, urging her to talk to everyone, regardless of age or background.

And Cristine absorbed it all, as only
a seven-and-a-half-year-old can.
Absolutely everything.

The Cristine of today, avid reader, tireless traveler, joyful foodie, natural-born pleasure-seeker, occasionally pensive, always an organizer (though slightly chaotic), is, 97.4%, the product of that fascinating childhood.
Each of the characters that surrounded her left an indelible mark on her life. She remembers them fondly and treasures countless anecdotes that keep their memory alive.

That chapter of her life was as incredible as it was formative: it shaped her, enriched her, and, in a way, defined her forever. Then came travels, studies, new friends, and more adventures, but Clementine, her island, her beginning, will always be in her heart.
